“Well, I should've started it way before I did, and if I had, I could've made it terrific.”
“Should've.” “Could've.” Sound familiar? When we use the words “should've” and “could've” we diminish what we have actually done and turn our gaze backwards towards the past. I think Procrastinators are particularly talented at downgrading their own progress and getting trapped in thoughts about what might have been. Maybe you should have and maybe you really could have, but you didn't. Don't throw away today by chasing the already-done-and-gone past.
Do you have regrets that you can't seem to move past? Can you remove “should've” and “could've” from your self-evaluation? What opportunities appear when you start to gaze towards the future?
Reminds me of a great quote I heard once:
“Forgiveness is giving up all hope for a better past”.
🙂
Thanks, Robert. Makes it all sound so simple :). I have a feeling you have a lot of wisdom to share.

You captured the essence of “would’ve – could’ve.”
